Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Garage Doors

GARAGE DOORS...are the largest moving component in your house. For the most part, garage doors do not need much in the way of maintenance. Once a year, spray lubricant on the rollers, and check the resistance and electronic eye to make sure they are working properly. You can check the resistance and the eye this way. When the door is coming down, holding the bottom panel should make the door reverse and go back up. Again, with the door coming down, wave your foot across the bottom of the track, and the door should reverse and go back up. These are safety measures that are built in to the door to keep pets, children, and slow moving adults from being crushed by the door. If either of these safety measures are not working, have an overhead door contractor adjust these. The large spring at the top of the door is also under extreme tension, and should not be touched by the homeowner! In case of a power outage, pull the red handle at the upper track. It will release the door from the electric opener. You then should be able to easily push the door up so that you can get your car out. When the power is back on again, simply hit the opener button and the motorized track will latch back on to the door by itself.

And there you have it ....All you have ever wanted to know about your garage door!
